TILS CODE OF ETHICS AND PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT STATEMENT
Be Inclusive
TILS welcome, strive to include, and support people of all backgrounds and identities. This includes but is not limited to members of any sexual orientation, LGBTQIA+ community, gender identity and expression, race, ethnicity, culture, national origin, social and economic class, educational level, color, immigration status, sex, age, size, family status, political belief, religion, and mental and physical ability.
Be Considerate
TILS members all depend on each other to produce the best work we can as an organization. Your decisions and interactions will affect other colleagues and the community, and you, as a member of TILS, should take those consequences into account when making decisions.
Be Respectful
TILS does not expect members to agree all the time, but disagreement is no excuse for disrespectful behavior, neither is disrespectful behavior allowed within the organization at any time. TILS will never allow personal attacks or the creation of an environment where people feel uncomfortable or threatened. Members who cannot abide by these rules of conduct will be excluded from TILS effective immediately.
Conduct Guidelines
TILS requires that each member conducts themselves professionally, not insult or put down others. Harassment and exclusionary behavior ’are not acceptable at any time. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Threats of violence.
• Insubordination.
• Discriminatory jokes and language.
• Sharing sexually explicit or violent material via electronic devices or other means.
• Personal insults, especially those using racist or sexist terms.
• Unwelcome sexual attention.
• Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior.
TILS will strictly condemn other types of unwelcomed behavior, and any inappropriate behavior can result in the immediate exclusion of a member from the organization and result in a permanent ban from reentering.
