About TILS

Recognizing the growing number of international lawyers in Texas, in 2021, a group of foreign lawyers founded the Texas International Lawyers Society (TILS), seeking to build a community of aspiring international practitioners, law students, and individuals practicing law in Texas.

Core Vision

TILS is a network of foreign lawyers, lawyers with an interest in international practice, qualified in Texas or are studying at an ABA accredited Texas law school or individuals studying for the Texas bar exam.

Core Mission

TILS’s mission is to serve equally our members, our profession and the public by facilitating integration of aspiring foreign lawyers into the Texas legal community and to provide legal market players easier access to foreign talent and to help build a diverse legal workforce and professional network.

Seeking to accomplish its mission, TILS, among other initiatives, will:

• Serve as a networking tool for international law students and lawyers in Texas

• Become a point of reference for Texas lawyers seeking to develop professional relationships with lawyers with a connection to countries other than the US

• Establish a mentorship program pairing senior attorneys with younger international lawyers.

• Develop programs and services which promote members’ professional growth.

• Promote competence, ethical conduct and professionalism and public service among our members.

• Eliminate Bias & Enhance Diversity – Promote full and equal participation among our members, the justice system by all persons.  Eliminate bias in the legal profession and the justice system.

• Advance the Rule of Law.  Increase public understanding of and respect for the rule of law, the legal process and the role of the legal profession in Texas and throughout the world.  Work for just laws, including human rights and a fair legal process.

• Assure meaningful access to justice for foreign individuals and business organizations in Texas.
